It's Official --- I'm Nuts...But In a Good Way!

Dear Family & Friends,

To celebrate the BIG 5-O I'm going to run a marathon! Can you imagine that...me, the world's greatest couch potato?!

I am writing you to make you aware of a special program I’m involved with: The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Team In Training. Team In Training is a fundraising and marathon-training program that will prepare me, along with my teammates, for the challenges of running a marathon while fundraising for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society is a national voluntary health agency dedicated to curing leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma, and improving the quality of life of patients and their families.

I’ve decided to take on this challenge for numerous reasons. Simply stated, I want to make a difference. Then of course there is the physical challenge of running 26.2 miles, and most importantly I am doing this in honor of a very special person: Barbara Marmer Joyner, my very dear friend who battled Hodgkin’s disease, but is now in remission (yea, Barbara!). I’m thrilled to announce that Barbara will also be joining me on this marathon!

I invite you to support me as I fundraise for the Team in Training program and train for the P.F. Chang Rock ‘n Roll Marathon. I have made a personal commitment to raise $4,000.00. Your tax-deductible donation to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society will further this great cause. I am asking for your support in making a difference. A full 75% of all donations go directly to the cause, so I’m asking you to be as generous as possible. The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society prides itself in having an expense ratio of no more than 25%, and was rated by Money magazine as one of the top ten charities for having the highest percentage of funds raised directly benefiting research and patient services.

My personal fundraising deadline is fast approaching so I ask that you send your contribution by October 31, 2007. This will help me monitor my progress. I will, of course still accept donations that come in after October 31, 2007.

All donations are 100% tax deductible, and our tax ID is 13-5644916. Feel free to pass this along to your friends & family. Also check to see if your company has a matching gifts program, it’s an easy way to double your donation!

Thank you so much!

Cathy

P.S. I encourage you to review the Team in Training website (www.teamintraining.org/los) or call their toll-free number 1-888-577-4868, to learn more about the Team in Training program.

I'M TAKING STEPS TOWARD A CHANGE!
