Call for Help
Okay, I admit it. I'm an idiot. Actually, I'm not an an idiot, but I am computer-challenged. Greatly.
Try as I might, I simply cannot figure out how to add links onto my blog.
Yes, I've already read the directions. yes, I've already contacted the IT people. No, I do not understand what everyone has told me. Like I said before; computer-challenged.
Several of you have kindly added me onto your blogs. I would love to reciprocate - if I could, that is.
Would someone out there PLEASE give me simple, straight-forward instructions??????
In ENGLISH, preferably.
Oh, and thank you!

Okay, it's a pain in the butt, and here's how to do it.
1) Get to that page where you post & control your blog.
2) There are tabs that run across the top, one is called "templte" - click on that one.
3) Now you are looking at the code for your blog. Kind of like seeing behind The Matrix... or like your website naked.
4) Scroll through the code - about 3/4 of the way down, you'll find the code for the links. This is why it's a pain - you really have to search for it.
5) Now you just add the web address and remove the "Google News" or whatever place holder they have there. You can also copy and paste a bunch more links.
6) If you click on the "link" thing on your blog page they give you instructions, but the thing they don't tell you is how far the links are in the code page - I spent the better part of a freaking hour reading through clocks of code before I found it - actually a little more than 3/4 of the way down the page. You can use the little slidey thing on the right side to make a guess where 3/4s is, then start reading code.
Hope that helps.

Cathy,
Log on as usual. Instead of pressing ‘Posting’ to add a new blog, press the Template tab (between Settings and View Blog)
A window of code will appear in the bottom half of the screen.
Scroll down almost to the bottom until you find a section called Links with three lines of code that have Google News and Edit-Me in them.
Replace the full news.google.com web address – everything between the quote marks - with the address of the page you want to link to. Remember to include all forward slashes where relevant, so it’s better to copy if from the browser, http and all and paste it in.
What you want to call the link replaces ‘Google News’
If you have more than three, simply copy and paste a new one underneath as you go.
If you have a lot of links and want to divide them up in sections, copy and paste the whole section from “h2 class...Links” down to forward slash Main Or Archive Page.
Then, like renaming the links themselves, you can rename the Links section title.
In the next couple of lines of code down are Previous Posts and Archives if you want to give them alternative names.
Hope this all helps. Tried to be more precise and post examples of code but the page wasn’t happy with lines of code being sent.
Kind Regards
Paul
I love you guys !!!!
I finally found the right location for the template changes. I just wasn't looking down far enough.
Whee...I'm giddy with my new-found sense of knowledge.
Oh, wait...that's the ice cream kicking in.
Never mind.
Thank you, gentlemen, really.
